Official Opening of Fota Wildlife Park’s new Centre
Cobh & Harbour Chamber were delighted to attend the official opening of Fota Wildlife Park’s new Education, Conservation and Research Centre (ECRC). The ECRC was officially opened by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll, Deputy Michael McGrath, Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kieran O’Donnell, and the Minister of State for Nature, Heritage & Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan.
Reflecting Fota’s ethos, the ECRC is designed with sustainability at its core by incorporating sustainable materials throughout the facility. This innovative centre is a testament to the vision of Sean McKeown, Director of Fota Wildlife Park, with the educational programme being expertly executed by the Head of Education, Lynda McSweeney, and by the dedication of all the Fota Wildlife team.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Sean McKeown on his retirement this week. Sean has been a cornerstone of Fota Wildlife Park since its inception over 40 years ago, and his dedication and contributions have been instrumental in shaping its success.
