ESB Aghada BESS Launch
Toddy Stafford, President of Cobh & Harbour Chamber attended the launch of ESB’s latest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Aghada. Officially opened by Michael McGrath, EU Commissioner-designate, this project represents a major leap forward in Ireland’s energy transition.
This cutting-edge facility brings 150MW (300MWh) of fast-acting energy storage to strengthen grid stability and enable the integration of even more renewable energy into Ireland’s electricity system.
Delivered in partnership with Fluence and Irish firm Powercomm Group, this project is part of ESB’s €300m investment in battery technology.
