We were delighted to welcome a full house to Friday’s Cobh and Harbour Chamber Business Lunch, which took place in the wonderful Commodore Hotel. It was a fantastic gathering, filled with great energy, engaging conversation, and excellent food enjoyed by all.
We were especially pleased to welcome Jack Chambers TD, Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, for what proved to be a timely and thought-provoking event.
Guests also heard from Emma Love of Irish Rail, who shared an update on the Cork Area Commuter Rail project and its target completion date of 2032, and from Paul Hegarty of the Port of Cork, who gave an insightful overview of the remarkable growth and development of Cork Harbour since 1986.
Drawing on both presentations, the Minister reinforced the importance of investing in critical infrastructure and highlighted the vital role enterprise plays in driving progress. His message struck a real chord with those in attendance: “Prosperity is created by entrepreneurs who take risks.”
It was a memorable afternoon and a wonderful opportunity for members and guests to come together, share ideas, and reflect on the importance of long-term investment in the future of our harbour, our businesses, and our wider community.
