January Business Breakfast in association with Port of Cork

We are delighted to have Michael Mahon, Chief Infrastructure Officer from EirGrid, as our speaker for our first Business Breakfast of 2023 sponsored by Port of Cork.

As individuals, a business community, and a country we are heading into a massive shift in sourcing our energy to achieve our renewable goals.

The EirGrid Group is a state-owned company that manages and operates the transmission grid across Ireland. They are responsible for a safe, secure, and reliable supply of electricity: now, and in the future. In May 2021, the Government, in their ‘Policy Statement on the Framework for Ireland’s Offshore Electricity Transmission System’, tasked EirGrid with the development and ownership of a new offshore electricity grid.

Following this Government decision, EirGrid has been working with industry, and other stakeholders, to deliver on the ambitious targets set out in the Climate Action Plan. In tandem with the delivery of our offshore potential, EirGrid is also making progress on pivotal energy infrastructure projects in Cork including the Celtic Interconnector.
