The Victorian Quarter Project
Cobh and Harbour Chamber attended a meeting in the Metropole Hotel this week with Shane Clarke who is the Director of Operations for the Victorian Quarter (VQ) project in Cork City. In attendance was Chair of our Hospitality Committee John Gately, Immediate Past President Johanna Murphy and Trigon Hotels Managing Director Aaron Mansworth.
”Originally the brainchild of Past President Johanna Murphy and Trigon Hotels MD Aaron Mansworth the meeting continued to explore the synergies between Cobh and the immediate Cork city location of the VQ. Both locations are either end of the Cork to Cobh rail link and it is felt that each area could benefit tremendously from tourist and local population traffic visiting Cobh and the Victorian quarter alike. The Hospitality Committee will now move this forward to the next stage with further communication and it is envisaged a high-profile launch of the initiative will take place in Spring 2024. It is also hoped that this initiative will also bring a renewed focus and vigour to the still awaited start to the Cobh Public Realm project.”
