Cruise Season Kicks off in Cork Harbour

Cork Harbour kicked off its 2024 cruise season with the arrival of the Ambition, a ship from Ambassador Cruise Line. This marks the beginning of a vibrant season filled with cruise ships from all corners of the globe.

Cruise tourism is a major economic engine for the region, bringing in an estimated €17 million. The season brings great excitement, boosting local tourism and drawing crowds to Cobh’s deep water quay where visitors can marvel at the massive ships.

President Toddy Stafford, shared his anticipation for the bustling year ahead.“The official start of the cruise season is always an exciting time. Each visiting vessel is an invaluable economic benefit to Cobh and the wider region. Tourism is now the new big industry here – the footfall from visiting vessels and visitors to the town is enormous and offers a boost to the local traders and community. We are deeply indebted to the Port of Cork to make sure the cruise liners come in and we are delighted to collaborate closely to help maximise the impact on the local economy.”
